| The
medieval village of Roquebrune is settled on a rock
high over the
Mediterranean. It's located between Monaco and Menton,
east of Nice. The
old village is dominated by the 10th-century chateau-fort
that seems to
be an extension of the rocks.
La
station de Lumone: Some traces of the romain
occupation remain in the Cap
Martin with ruins of Lumone station (1st
century before JC), across the city hall.

The
Castle Conrad 1st, conte of Vintimiglia constructed
castle at the 10th century. In 1355, Roquebrune
become the Grimaldi's possession during 5 century.In
1793 Roquebrune becomes french then
once more become monegasque in 1814 before setting itself
up as a free town in 1848 with Menton.
Finally in 1860 joined France. Castle is bought by Sir
William Ingram in 1911 and gave it to the town in 1921.
It's
a picturesque village with narrow streets, stepped-streets,
stone steps, one-person-wide walkways and deep vaulted
passages. There are lovely little squares and fountains
here and there, wrought-iron balconies and other charming
discoveries. Roquebrune-Cap-Martin
is both a
tourist town and a residential town.
The newer village houses are neatly and discretely integrated.

Roquebrune
Cap Martin, a glamorous vista on the French

medieval village is situated just under the
castle, 300 m height. Typicals and narrow alleys, a
lot of stairs, vaults, facing the sea are characteristics
of the village. Sainte-Marguerite church contains a
replica of Michel Ange paint, "Le jugement dernier".
Right next to the village, the millennium olive tree
stands.
The
Cap
Martin ome rich houses and a beautiful
garden with olive trees are situated in the cap. A pleasant
walk around the cap will take you from Monaco
to Menton.
Cabanon Le Corbusier You will find
the secret "castle" of the famous architect
Le Corbusier on the "promenade" along the
cap.
